Twelve Apostles

The Twelve Apostles are located 85km south of Apollo Bay along The Great Ocean Road. This iconic Australian tourist attraction was created by constant erosion of the mainland’s limestone cliffs beginning 10-20 million years ago. Today, the twelve Apostles can be seen as seven limestone stacks isolated from the shore. The Twelve Apostles are best viewed at sunset as the rocks turn to a brilliant sandy yellow under full sun.

Down south, the park features Australia’s Southern rugged coastline where the Southern Ocean meets cliff faces & sandy beaches. Whilst, in the north of the park features a rainforest filled with tall trees, ferns, stunning waterfalls & tranquil lakes.

Maits Rest Rainforest Walk is a boardwalk that takes you through the rain forest amongst beautiful fern gardens and giant rainforest trees up to 300 years old. If you are lucky, you may see native wildlife including koalas, grey kangaroos and ring-tailed possums.

Who doesn’t love waterfalls? There are three waterfalls located within the hinterlands of Apollo Bay- Triplet falls, Beauchamp falls & Hopetoun falls. Hike into the rainforest and witness breathtaking views of thick ferns and vivid green imagery. Experience the views of natures untamed power paired with a sense of tranquillity that a waterfall can offer. If you are wanting more, travel up the Great Ocean Road to view Carisbrook Waterfall & Creek, 50m waterfall.

Lookouts - Marriners Lookout & Mount Defiance Lookout

Marriners Lookout is a hilltop point that has spectacular views of Apollo Bays coastline and township located north of Apollo Bay. It is also a popular take-off point for hang gliders. You can drive or walk to the lookout.  

Mount Defiance Lookout is situated on the Great Ocean Road near Cumberland River, this historic tourist attraction showcases a plaque detailing the remarkable construction of the Great Ocean Road by returning World War One soldiers. The Great Ocean Road is the world’s longest war memorial.

Cape Otway Lighthouse is the oldest working lighthouse in Victoria, Australia. During winter to spring, the lighthouse is the spot for land-based whale watching as migrating whales swim very close to shore.

Forrest Mountain Bike Trails are located 37km from Apollo Bay. All six trails are fun and range from 2km – 6km going through the beautiful scenery of the rainforest. Some trails are easier with a wide flowing track and some are a more challenging with decent, bermed corners, jumps and tight climbs.

Apollo Bay Beach is a beautiful family beach that is popular for swimming, surfing and stand up paddling boarding. It is only 15m from our Apollo Bay Beach House. It is a protected east facing beach that is 3km long with flat golden sand.

Apollo Bay Crafts and Markets are locally made and grown. The Apollo Bay Farmer's Market is held on the third Sunday of every month. Some of the local produce include fresh fruit and veg, wine, honey and meats. The Apollo Bay Community Market is held most Saturdays that also have fresh local produce and crafts made by talented locals.
